Paul was inspired by the idea of a water meadow and used this evocative landscape to create a garden of refuge.  Paul also used art and artists commissioned by Viking on their ocean ships to suggest  the idea of going on a journey of discovery.  The garden used pollarded willows to add maturity and bespoke elements, such as the chairs and glazed concrete, to express the idea of man's intervention onto the natural landscape.
